baby steps to a healthy you

many have asked for my advice on nutrition and diet.   many would like to live a healthier lifestyle but are trapped in the american way, which unfortunately is not the best way.  when you are on a budget 2 for 1 sounds great, super size it for 50 cents more, even better.  but what we must realize is they don't care about us, they just want our money.  The unhealthier we are the more money they make, bad diet leads to disease and even effects your mental well being. which brings me to an important point.  WAKE UP HAPPY EVERYDAY!! just because you have another day to exist and help others around you BE HAPPY.  that's why we are here right, to help each other.
 
BE HAPPY AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.  HERE'S A LITTLE SECRET, IT'S CALLED SMILE THERAPY.  WHENEVER A SITUATION CAUSES A FROWN OR NEGATIVE ENERGY JUST SMILE IT AWAY. THE BIGGER THE SMILE THE BETTER.  IT REALLY WORKS.

when it comes to weight loss or making any changes in your life for that matter, everyone tries cold turkey and then get disappointed when they have a set back and soon quit trying. You didn't gain the weight overnight, so don't expect to lose it overnight.  give yourself time to adjust and gradually make changes and don't beat yourself up over setbacks, just keep moving forward and out of the drive through line.  for instance my brother and i first stopped eating beef and pork, the we stopped poultry, then fish.(don't tell my brother, but i never really stopped eating fish,but what i do eat i consume mostly raw(sushi anyone?)) come to find out eating things out of the sea is very good for my blood type.  and one of the meanings of my name is of the sea, so I do what works for me and you have to do what works for you.  the more information you have the easier it will be to find out what works for you.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER

MEAT, we love meat, but is it the meat or is it the seasonings...hmmm...MEAT is very hard for your body to digest and often goes undigested in your body for months even years which causes your intestines to swell and clog which prohibits the proper functioning of your digestive system.  to make it worse since they just want to make money and have no concern for your health, animals are pumped full of growth hormones and chemicals(which we then consume/absorb) and badly mistreated just to make a buck off you.  this includes the dairy products, i would switch to almond milk over soy. there are some issues with soy that we can get into at a later time.  Again, just cut down at first and then cut down some more. maybe stop drinking milk but still have cheese,and be selective about where the cheese comes from. instead of ice cream have water ice or sorbet or a smoothie.   got milk...you shouldn't  check this out  (click here)
And when you get those cravings  for meat, Morningstar products are a pretty good substitute. there are others as well...do some taste testing, have fun be excited about the changes.

OH DID I MENTION DRINK LOTS OF SPRING WATER

when it comes to weight loss the main culprits are starch(bread,fries, tortillas, noodles, pasta) and sugar.  Starch breaks down into sugar.  try making lettuce wraps instead of sandwiches or tacos. Switch to gluten free or Ezekiel bread.  oh and please do yourself a big favor and NEVER DRINK SODA AGAIN!!,
but if u have to have a soda, try hansen's or some other natural brand. its easy to eat what mamma makes, but branch out on your own and lead your family to a healthier more fulfilling life.






when it comes to meat everone is always well i gotta have protein...HERE'S YOUR PROTEIN...


as far as snacks, there are many alternatives to the fried greasy stuff in a bag...fruit dried or fresh, fruit and nut bars(lara bars are my favorite, i think they should be a food group) go exploring and be excited about the new snacks you discover, i'll let you in on another little secret  MEDJOOL DATES.




while it does seem cheaper to eat crap take a look at this $25 bounty.
 if you are in LA i highly suggest you shop for produce in koreatown, specifically 1st and Western, i'd tell you the name if i knew how to read those symbols...
from this batch i can make orange,carrot, apple juice, kale chips(see dehydrator in the corner under garlic cloves) my own raw burger patties and jerky(again see dehydrator) then i have some gaya melons(a newly discovered treat)


A HEALTHY diet leads to great skin, higher energy level(in and out of bed), your immune system is able to function better, no sickness and disease for you, and long life just to name a few benefits.
remember they make money off you being sick, doctors included, so be careful the information you receive.  if it doesn't seem in tune with nature it probably isn't.

oh and one other thing,  CHEW YOUR FOOD!!  not only is it the first and most important step it will slow down your pace of eating and allow you to enjoy your food more and feel full with less.  REMEMBER DRINK LOTS OF WATER
